3 ways to improve our spiritual health

On a previous post, we took on the most profound of health dimensions or spheres: the spiritual dimension. This sphere pertains to the person´s relation to an ultimate power, energy and/or higher purpose.
In a way, it can be thought as a life-long journey in search for an answer to the questions: why are we here? what is our purpose? where are we going? among many others.
This sphere is interlinked with religion but not limited to it. Rather it expands into family, naturalism, spirituality, community, and God.
Whether we find ourselves in sickness, pain or in a state of wellness, the spiritual dimension profoundly influences our response and approach to these states.
3 ways to improve our spiritual health
Review & refresh core-values
Our core values are the framework for our lives. Have they changed recently? How about through the COVID-19 pandemic? If so, how?
Whether you are religious or tend more towards spirituality, take the time and refresh the answers to these questions: Who am I? Why am I here for? What is my purpose? Where am I going? What will be the meaning of my life?
Take your time, keep a journal or an electronic document and see it as a journey. Just think about all the things you will learn!
The practice of meditation
Through prayer or otherwise, it is a practice that mitigates stress, alleviates worry, aids in the search for healing, and it gives clarity in our purpose.
Pick a time. Start small if necessary. It can be 5 minutes, adding a minute every week. Again, think of it as a long term skill and investment. Not only will this practice make your focus stronger, but it can improve your spiritual and overall health.
Start & keep a gratitude journal
Gratitude is interlinked with the release of a neurotransmitter called Dopamine, which you most probably have heard of. It is usually associated with happiness and a feeling of reward. As you note more and more things to be grateful about, the brain responds.
In this post, we took a brief look at three ways we can improve our spiritual health. In the near future we will dive into each of these examples further and provide evidence and examples.
Kind regards,
